The In-Edit family is celebrating. The figures that wrapped up 12th edition of the In-Edit Nescafé Festival
in Chile – which took place in Santiago from December 3rd to 13th – speak for themselves: 60 films from 13 countries, 102 screenings in 10 days, at 4 different venues. Our sister music documentary festival once again made its indelible mark as a unique event in Santiago de Chile’s cultural calendar, gathering thousands of enthusiastic viewers.
As well as thanking the directors, producers, media, and technicians and above all, the attendees that contributed to the success of this edition, we can also confirm that In-Edit Nescafé will, for the third time, bring a selection of its programme to the city of Concepción, in May 2016.
The jury unanimously chose Quilapayún, más allá de la canción
as Best National Documentary. The film by director Jorge Leiva
reviews 50 years of the most famous Chilean band to perform political songs, from the perspective of where the band is today: still active and driven by immovable social concerns. Their story is also that of part of the country for the past five decades, and includes militant action, support for Salvador Allende
’s government, the trauma of the Coup d’Etat and the loss of numerous friends (including in their case, Víctor Jara
), which fuelled their 1973 departure and exile in France. With this prize, renowned journalist and documentary-maker Jorge Leiva will travel to Barcelona to screen his documentary at Beefeater In-Edit 2016. And, on the subject of prizes, the film Jaco
, by Paul Marchand
and Stephen Kijak
won the Audience Prize.
BIG AIR SCREENING FOT KURT COBAIN
The now-traditional open air screening at In-Edit Nescafé was the biggest in its history, with 2.400 people getting together at the Parque de las Esculturas de Providencia on Thursday December 10th to see the documentary Cobain: Montage of Heck.
Here at In-Edit we send our warmest congratulations to In-Edit Nescafé Chile. What a fabulous way to gear up for the new year. Next stops: Thessaloniki, Athens and Bogota!
